For gardeners, small-block holders, horticulturists, farmers and all who are interested in growing productive trees.
Who are we?
Our members include a real cross-section of people – scientists, orchardists, farmers, hobbyists, investors, lifestyle block holders, home gardeners….
Big landowners or town residents with small sections; some are learners and others are researchers of high repute – but all are interested in trees for produce.
What do we do?
Members receive branch newsletters with information specific to their own area. Branches meet monthly (or more) at field days, seminars, workshops, plant sale days and social events.
Published crop information is available to members at discounted prices, as are supplies from supporting nurseries.
All members receive our quarterly magazine – TreeCropper. Written primarily by our members, these articles often reflect members’ interest in new or unusual tree crops and are specific to New Zealand conditions.
Each year we gather in a different region for a national conference with speakers, workshops and field visits.
Seeing other properties, learning propagating techniques, training new varieties and sourcing material… whenever we gather, we talk about our problems and successes, with like-minded people.
Taking it further
Members may join special interest groups who concentrate on particular crops – for pure curiosity, or to investigate the potential for commercial production.
They may host a trial plantation on their property with the advice of our research coordinators, or contribute to a branch project.
Or they may simply prefer to increase their knowledge through our publications. How involved you become is up to you – the possibilities are endless…
Membership is just NZ$50 per year.
