Welcome to Christchurch and Canterbury
for the 35th Anniversary Conference
Tree Crops 2010 – a healthy future
The Canterbury Plains and Port Hills, Southern Alps and foothills along with the diversity of Banks Peninsula will provide the backdrop for Conference 2010, the 35th Anniversary of the New Zealand Tree Crops Association.
A wide variety of field visits, interesting speakers and pre and post conference tours will take conference options over six days. We look forward to working with Murray Mannall and his team at Southern Woods, our major sponsor, as we plan a successful event.
‘A Healthy Future’ is the theme – one aim is to organise a vibrant conference encouraging the planting of useful tree crops for the future. The other is to promote the consumption of nutritious tree grown crops and elevate the health benefits of eating fresh produce from trees.
While the trees may grow in many regions around New Zealand – is there a healthy future for these crops as weather events impact on the viability of successfully growing trees in some areas?
For easy access to the conference, our conference venue is the Sudima Hotel which is situated within walking distance of Christchurch International Airport. The hotel has easy access to the city via bus and is next door to the Antarctic Centre, Canterbury's leading tourist attraction. Partners of registrants will be able to easily link in with other activities that make Christchurch, the garden city, an interesting place to visit.
