Duckworth Street, Andersons Bay, Dunedin
The grafting workshop will be followed by a pruning demonstration.
Cost of participation will be $25.00 which will include 1 apple tree rootstock in a bag.
The participant will graft an apple variety of the type they want.
Additional rootstocks will be available on the day for $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Membership forms will be available on the day.
The workshop will be limited to 20 persons.
Prior Registration is required to Bruce Parker 03 4395602.
Bruce will advise everyone in the event of unsuitable weather.
This workshop will be held outdoors and those attending will need to wear gumboots, (at least) and should bring pruning tools.
The site in Duckworth Street is situated on the upper north facing slopes of Andersons Bay, a nice area of mature natives, tuis and all, sheltered and warm. There are a couple of large plum trees and about 20 un-pruned three-year-old apple trees. These trees will be used to explain the first pruning and long-term management.
There will be a variety of scion wood available on the day.
This is a great opportunity to learn a useful skill which can be applied to a wide range of useful trees.
