May Field Day
Hosts: Blue and Patsy
Venue: Bradford Street, Waihi
At: 1:00pm Sunday 12th May
Blue and Patsy live on a one hectare strictly non-commercial property at Waihi where they both enjoy growing things. They grow show chrysanthemums and there should be a few blooms for us to see but we will also be shown how to propagate these lovely, long lasting flowers.
There are 20 Monty’s surprise apples and here we will be shown how Blue is now going to prune them as he has had a change of mind over his present methods.
A small berry house is being established for blueberries, raspberries and strawberries and also growing are pears, peaches and nectarines which Blue says all need a chainsaw prune. He has places prepared for a row of citrus to be planted and a patch where nothing grows that he would like advice on.
Also advice is sought on an 8 metre tall kauri that has a mind of its own.
